New Communities Group Webinar

New development must be built to withstand the challenges of climate change that will hit us over the next century. It must be designed from the outset to avoid and manage the flow of excess water and protect communities from the risks of overheating. Large-scale new development offers particular opportunities to deliver resilient communities, including considering climate adaptation in the overall design and layout of development, ensuring all homes are appropriately ventilated and resilient to flood risk so that future retrofitting is unnecessary and integrating green infrastructure throughout the development to provide shade to people and buildings.

This webinar will explore the ways in which new development can be made intrinsically resilient to the impacts of climate change, including discussing the critical importance of site selection, the role of sustainable urban drainage systems and how to address the risk of overheating.

The latest addition to the TCPA’s suite of practical guides for creating successful new communities will also be launched at the webinar.
