Undermining health in England

The TCPA has published its response to the government’s consultation on proposed Environmental Outcomes Reports (EOR).

It is now widely recognised that the places and environments in which people live have a profound influence on their health. Consequently, the way that places are planned and developed is an important factor in supporting – or undermining – population health.

Our response raises concerns that by removing the legal requirement for plans to assess health impact, and by separating environmental standards from health, Environmental Outcomes Reports will weaken the ability of the planning system to promote public health.
